Dominion Modern is an archive of 20th Century Canadian architecture and design. Our goal is to collect, catalogue, preserve and disseminate. Dominion Modern proposes to be a leading voice in advancing knowledge, promoting public understanding and widening thought and debate on the art of 20th century Canadian architecture and design.
Our aim is simple. We want to democratise Canadian Architecture and Design. The current programme includes exhibitions, publications, collections, website, and an oral history project with over 200 taped interviews with Canadian architects, engineers, and designers. We concentrate on Modernism, an essential but often-neglected period in our nation’s cultural development.
Founded in 2003 it is incorporated as a non-profit charitable organisation. Dominion Modern has been funded through private corporate sources and public donations.
